Turning Twenty

Hey guys...

I'm writing this post the day after my 20th birthday.

I've dreaded the coming of this age for the longest. Turning twenty means that my teenage years are officially over. I'm now entering a new decade of my life where by the end I will have (hopefully) started my career and be married with kids. Emerging yourself into the working world alone is a scary thought. Combined with other factors its not hard to see why your twenties are referred to as the 'defining decade'.

Turning twenty has got me thinking about the previous ten years of my life and most importantly what I have to show for them. I have my GCSE and A Level certificates and am entering my second year of uni. These alone are wonderful achievements for which I am grateful but what more have I got to talk about outside of education? What do I have to say about 'when I was a teenager'.

Entering your twenties people expect you to be an adult yet I'm still not totally sure of what I want from life. I still laugh at the silliest of things and would rather buy a pair of trainers than heels (which will probably never change). All I really hope to be is content. To no longer care about what others think and to simply do things for myself. All in all I just want to be a better me.

Today I am making a promise to myself to make the most out of my twenties. To take all opportunities offered and most importantly to step out my comfort zone and enjoy my life. I hope this next decade will be filled with travel, new relationships, opportunities and experiences.

This blog is the first step towards stepping out of my comfort zone and I hope you all follow me as I document my journey.
